Empowering Clinical Exercise Physiologists: Bridging Gaps in Healthcare
PRESENTER:
Megan Bush, MS, CEP, CSCS, CNC, EIM; Balance Right Wellness & Fitness
BRIEF SUMMARY
The efficacy of exercise in clinical populations is well-established, offering promising avenues for healthcare expansion, especially for individuals grappling with chronic conditions. Despite the increasing recognition of exercise as a prescription for disease management, there remains a notable deficit in access to qualified professionals to effectively harness its potential. Traditionally confined to cardiopulmonary rehab settings, clinical exercise physiologists (CEPs) are now emerging as vital healthcare providers in the United States, equipped with unique skills to bridge the gaps in healthcare services. Accordingly, this session will review innovative and non-traditional pathways CEPs may be able to apply their skillsets in virtual and hybrid settings, thereby broadening their reach to diverse patient populations and even operating independently. Moreover, it will explore how CEPs can navigate the complexities of insurance systems to create financial stability, making their valuable services more accessible and sustainable.
